Do you remember being a child and being handed money to buy whatever you wanted?
Three lei. Five lei. You held them in a small hand, damp from the excitement of everything that could become yours. From the sweet wrapped in cocoa to the eraser in neon colours.
And somehow, those coins felt like a fortune.
I have never again been that rich with so little.
So I made something that holds exactly that much. Little enough to feel like a fortune. Or at least like the feeling of one.
We don't need big things to hold our fragmentation together. That is already about holes in broken souls, and those don't come with any feeling attached.
The leather is five millimetres thick. At five millimetres you no longer push the needle through, you force it, and every stitch is pulled with both hands. I stitched it all the way round like that. Small as it is, it was hard work.
A wide belt in natural leather with a round buckle. A small pouch rides on it, on two loops. Take it off when you want, move it where you want: on the hip, at the front, at the back. It has four pockets and it closes with a neodymium magnet. Inside, a card slot, a snap I covered in leather myself, and the same pink lining, the colour of the life you remember.
What would you take with you? Maybe just the belt. Or maybe you put on the right shoes and go out to conquer the world.
One in the world. Cut, stitched and finished by Alexandra, in Arad.
All other swindlers upon earth are nothing to the self-swindlers.
